Great news on the performance and CD fronts! Sathima will celebrate her 71st birthday with the reissue of her 1963 album with Duke Ellington A Morning in Paris. It will be out for download (iTunes, etc) October 16, and will be in stores January 22.

Sathima will also celebrate her birthday with a concert on October 17 at Sweet Rhythm, with Onaje Allan Gumbs, Marcus McLaurine, and George Gray. It's well worth coming, because we will also have advance copies of A Morning in Paris at the show for sale!

Sathima's 1999 recording Cape Town Love is now available for download on iTunes, emusic, and other online retailers. Over the next year, we will be re-issuing for download all of her out-of-print back catalogue.

On October 17 2006, ekapa records celebrated Sathima's 70th birthday with the release of SongSpirit a collection of 11 previously issued tracks, plus one unreleased track featuring Sathima in performance with Abdullah Ibrahim.
